A recently delivered test iteration of the universal stage adapter for NASA’s enhanced Space Launch System (SLS) rocket made its way to Building 4619 within NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, situated in Huntsville, Alabama. This crucial component reached its destination on February 22, having been transported from Leidos located in Decatur, Alabama. The primary function of the universal stage adapter involves linking the rocket’s advanced in-space propulsion stage, known as the exploration upper stage, with NASA’s Orion spacecraft. This integration forms a pivotal aspect of the evolved Block 1B configuration designated for the SLS rocket’s operations.
