In the digital landscape, numerous millennials like myself found their voices and beliefs shaped by the vibrant realm of Tumblr during their formative teenage years. For me, this multimedia microblogging platform served as a gateway to feminist politics, sparking a profound curiosity in gender studies and feminism that continued to blossom throughout my university years.
Immersed in the dynamic and diverse Tumblr community during its zenith, I drew inspiration from these experiences to delve into the intricate intersection of media fandom, digital feminisms, and the unique culture that thrived on the platform in the period spanning the early to mid-2010s. This exploration culminated in the creation of my book, “Feminist Fandom: Media Fandom, Digital Feminisms, and Tumblr,” capturing the essence of a generation finding its voice and agency through online spaces.
Venturing beyond mere social networking, Tumblr emerged as a dynamic hub where discussions on feminist ideologies flourished and resonated with an entire cohort navigating the complexities of identity, equality, and empowerment.
