One capital a day to fight scams against the elderly.

An entire week dedicated to the protection of the elderly, with a daily event in each of the six provincial capitals of the region. Starting next Monday, November 13, the initiative “Scams: Don’t Let Yourself Be Deceived” by Uil Pensionati Puglia and Inps kicks off, a week-long campaign aimed at preventing and raising awareness about scams and deception targeting the elderly.

The initiative will begin in Lecce and then move on to Brindisi (Tuesday 14), Foggia (Wednesday 15), Taranto (Thursday 16), and finally, a double commitment on Friday 17, starting with Bari and concluding with an event in Barletta.

Individuals from various organizations and institutions will come together to provide valuable information, advice, and support to the elderly population, who are often vulnerable to scams and deceitful practices. The events aim to empower the elderly with knowledge and tools to protect themselves against fraudulent schemes that can cause financial loss and emotional distress.

Throughout the week, experts will share insights into common scams targeting the elderly, such as phone fraud, identity theft, and deceptive sales tactics. They will offer practical tips on how to recognize and avoid falling victim to these schemes. Additionally, legal professionals will be present to discuss the legal remedies available to victims and address any concerns or questions raised by attendees.

By organizing this series of events across the region, Uil Pensionati Puglia and Inps strive to create a network of support and solidarity for the elderly community. These initiatives not only raise awareness but also promote collaboration among various stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, social services, and community organizations, to tackle the issue of elder abuse and exploitation effectively.

It is essential for everyone, regardless of age, to stay informed and vigilant about potential scams. Friends and family members of the elderly are encouraged to attend these events and gather valuable information that they can share with their loved ones. Together, we can build a stronger and more resilient community that protects its most vulnerable members.

The “Scams: Don’t Let Yourself Be Deceived” initiative serves as a reminder of the need for continuous efforts in education, prevention, and enforcement to combat scams targeting the elderly. By dedicating an entire week to this cause, Uil Pensionati Puglia and Inps send a clear message that the well-being and safety of our elderly population are of utmost importance.

As the events unfold throughout the week, it is hoped that attendees will gain valuable knowledge and insights that they can apply in their daily lives. The fight against scams and deception requires collective action, and by raising awareness and empowering the elderly, we take a significant step towards a safer and more secure society for all.
