UN unprecedented resolution criticizes Italy: Violates Right to Housing Pact. Must rehouse and compensate two families.

Italy believes in respecting agreements; why sign them otherwise, right? The country is called upon to uphold the Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) ratified in 1977, particularly Article 11 regarding the right to an adequate standard of living, including housing. Italy has repeatedly attempted to comply with this pact. Recently, an unprecedented United Nations resolution chastised Italy for violating the Covenant on the Right to Housing. The country must provide accommodation and compensation to two families, as reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano.
